Man, you find the best bands!

These guys remind me of Quick One - era Who.

I've still got both of those Rifles tunes stuck in my head.

Tell me about the Arctic Monkeys. I noticed they opened for Oasis here in T.O.

Little Man Tate have been signed to Virgin's V2 label. There's a great new track available at their MySpace page:

http://www.myspace.com/littlemantatemusic

(It's the bottom one, "Just Can't Take It". Quite Beatlesque. Really shows what they can accomplish in a proper studio!)

Hardly know where to begin ...! Try this, Robbie, it's a very extensive Arctics fansite with loads of audio and video downloads, interviews, the works:

Not sure why they've now made a video for the B-side of the single, "Young Offenders", but it's a cool song, so enjoy:

That was more of a documentary/live type of video, probably made as a stopgap until the "real" video for the new single was done. Here it is ~ this video has been banned during daytime hours by MTV UK because Little Man Tate are "impersonating police officers".

The final Little Man Tate single which preceded their debut album was this one, out a couple of weeks ago. It's called "Sexy In Latin". (LOVE the skinny ties! :))

Now, here's their debut full-length, entitled About What You Know. I have this and will vouch for how terrific it sounds ~ it's a great big explosion of '60s mod and '70s punkpop hooks. No USA release in sight, but don't order a UK copy ... in this case it's actually a better deal to get the Japanese version:

Poke through the "Used" link and get it from MusicJapan ~ you'll get a sealed Japanese pressing that's cheaper than the UK version, plus it includes two bonus tracks ~ the B-side of their current English single, called "Saved By A Chat Show", and a song called "75" which was previously only available as a download through iTunes UK.

This listing is still under the title It's Written On The Wall, but that was the provisional name for the album and it did end up being released in Japan as About What You Know same as in Europe. (I know this for sure because I got my own copy from MusicJapan too. :))

Enjoy ...

There's a new EP (4-track CD single) now out in England which includes a totally re-recorded version of "This Must Be Love" plus three excellent non-album tracks, well worth picking up. Little Man Tate become more Kinks-like with every release. Here's the video for the lead track so you can hear how the song has been re-recorded, it's more uptempo with fuller instrumentation than the album version:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wkbgtlZFqXw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wkbgtlZFqXw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

And this is the CD single itself:

>> This Must Be Love is one of the many highlights of Little Man Tate's recently released debut album About What You Know. NME described the band as "bouncy, brassy and destined for greatness" while The Guardian proclaimed "they will be huge" and The Sun summed up About What You Know as "an album to warm the cockles of your heart". Meanwhile Mojo described the band as 'an exhilarating combination equal parts Pulp and The Jam, but with an economy that makes them both look oblique and grandfatherly, while their contemporaries suddenly seem a little shallow". <<

1. This Must Be Love
2. Hello Miss Lovely (So You Like My Jeans)
3. Too Quick To Type
4. Self Appreciation Club

Get these quickly 'cos they might only be available today, or for a few days at best. LMT have released two new songs for free download only ~ enter your e-mail addy here (a fake address actually works fine if you don't want to get mail from the V2 label :shush:) and you'll be taken to the download page:
