I only really knew her from Batman and the movie Boomerang. Eighty-one years is a good life, and she seemed to make the most of it.

Yes, I think she did quite well for herself. I knew her mostly from Batman, too,
but was always pleased when I would notice her in other roles, like in Erik the
Viking as the witch woman in the cave.

And I'd catch her on various talk shows doing a song. Lovely.

I used to not like her as Catwoman on the old TV show, feeling that Julie Newmar was the definitive one. I still feel that Newmar is the best of all of the TV show's Catwomen, but I've come to admire Kitt for bringing her own thing to the role in watching those shows again recently.

She didn't try to ape Newmar, opting to bring her own sensibilities to the role.

Sad to hear of her passing.

She came from a hard and troubled beginning, shunned as "that yeller gal". Her mixed heritage of white, American Indian and African made her exotic and lovely, to my eyes, but in her early years she considered herself and was considered by others, to be ugly. Somehow she arose above all that to be one of the most talented and charismatic performers of her generation. Her voice was honey flowing over precious faceted stones and she danced like silk blowing in the breeze.

My personal favorite turn of her's as an actor was a guest shot on Mission Impossible, where she joined the team because of her abilities as a contortionist. She proved her agility by slithering through the square sections of a bookcase. It made a huge impression on me. I also loved her Catwoman more than Newmar's.

A classy and beautiful woman. A life well lived. She will be missed.

My favourite Eartha moment was when she was being interviewed by Julian Clary, who casually mentioned that he was gay. "Do you never go in search of a woman?" she asked him "No, do you?" he replied "Well, no I don't darling....so I suppose that's one more thing we have in common, isn't it?" (they both laughed).

Eartha Kitt was one of those rare types of beautiful women who stayed beautiful throughout her life.

Sad news indeed. She had the most sultry voice of ALL the women that have played Catwoman.

They just played it on the radio. She is still here and will be forever.

I was stunned to hear about this. She was a great Catwoman in her own right.

RIP, Eartha!
