Wolverine was always presented as having super strength in the comics I read as a kid (the Claremont/Byrne/Cockrum comics) Lately people have suggested to me that this isn't the case, that he has only the strength of a normal human.

I-call-bullshit

In X-Men 158, Rogue flies towards Logan and he punches her through a wall

In X-Men 14(something can't remember) Wolverine takes down Wendigo, a Hulk strength opponent.

I am right. You fanboys are wrong.

I win. :-D

Wolverine doesn't really exist because he's a fictional character.

Fact. :P

Given enough cosmic energy, he can regenerate from a blood cell. He's immortal. He's the best there is at what he does, and what he does is talk about being the best there is at what he does.

Wolverine or Lobo? Wolverine can regenerate adamantium?

Actually, these days, I'd say Spider-Man, Batman and Iron Man are the most used these days. You would have been right in the 90's.

X-Men Annual number uh.. the one Alan Davis drew. One drop of blood hitting a reality bending artifact, and Wolverine regenerated.

Is that from Wolvie's healing factor or the artifact's power though?

It was from the artifact's cosmic power.

I always read it as being because Wolverine could regenerate and that ability getting ramped up by the artifact. Probably just me.

Spider-Man was always over-exposed. Iron Man gets around too. Wolverine is special though. He's a part of 2 teams, and he has his own book. Various random guest star roles.

How did that single drop of blood know to do it? Would any drop of his blood do the same? Are there a zillion Wolverines out there who are all the best there is at what they do?

The various Marvel handbooks have said he has greater strength than a normal human. The first handbook series had him lifting 500 pounds plus. With Adamantium bones you'd hope he has a little extra muscle to handle it. I think his bones do add to his hitting potential though. Seemingly unbreakable hands would be nasty to be hit with.

And Wolverine is very, very, very, very, VERY overexposed. Pathetically overexposed. :ohyes:

I disagree. Back in the 90s, Wolverine only had one solo book, plus his appearances in the X-Books. Nowadays, he appears in two monthly solo books, with a third one coming in a few months, plus New Avengers and various X-titles. That's not counting the two or three mini-series he's in every month. I'd say he's used at least as much as Batman and Spider-Man and more than Iron Man.

It was the healing factor combined with the cosmic power of the artifact. Yes, any drop of blood would do the same, but only if it splashed on that particular crystal, which was -- per the story -- an artifact that was unique in the universe.

Why do people get so confused by that annual? (It was #11, by the way.) It's all quite clear. (Besides which, that story is completely self-contained, and that plot device was clearly never meant to be used or referenced again.)

Probably because people at a certain board have been known to skip the crystals existence, and make false assertions about it all.
