Who knows, it could just be a case of Amazon putting out an astronomically high price because they don't yet know what the price will be.

I have all the Queen CDs, as issued on Hollywood. Any Queen fans know if the band has exclusive b-sides or versions that are likely to be here that are not otherwise available on CD, or is this just the same songs already released split up into a bunch of CD singles?

There's nothing here that isn't available elsewhere. Now if they were doing a set of CD singles reproducing the 12" singles, then I'd buy!

Kind of surprising that's not the case... a good contrast are the Marillion singles box sets, which actually compiled multi-format releases (e.g., 7", 12", CD) onto the same disc.

Bump: unfortunately the American pressing has been cancelled, and this box set will now only be released in the UK. Those of you who pre-ordered the domestic pressing should check your Amazon accounts to make sure that the lower price was locked in -- it's likely that you're going to get a nice bargain, since Amazon simply changed their listing page to read "Import", so the pre-orders should still be valid.
