My father is kind of obsessed with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and he passed that obsession on to my sister many years ago. Now that the two of them live rather far apart, they have a little tradition that they observe each year: when Santa Claus makes his appearance at the end of the parade, my father calls his daughter, and the two watch that part of the parade together.
For some reason, though, this year there was a time delay here in the CST region of the USA. As a result, when my dad called my sister and said, "There he is!", my sister looked at her TV and responded perplexedly, "...Rick Astley?"
I was elbow-deep in stuffing at the time, so I didn't see the actual video. Pretty funny, if surreal, stuff.

The song the puppets are singing before Rick interrupts is "Best Friend" (a.k.a. "Girlfriend" a.k.a. "The Courtship of Eddie's Father Theme Song)" written and recorded by Nilsson. Wonder what he would've thought of this.

It's sad to think that Rick Astley went from being one of the biggest jokes of the record industry, to being one of the biggest jokes on the internet decades later. Well, not really sad....just kind of messed up.

since all you see is the Rick Ashley video. Well,
the clip is entitled "Opening Scene of The Dark Knight."
This is originally how folks got "rick rolled" before people
got really clever with the clip...

Well, it's not how they "originally" got Rickrolled, since it's been around much, much longer than that.That is a clever method though.

In fact, Rickrolling was invented when Astley released "Never Gonna Give You Up" in 1987.
