Taft's Sword of Shasta thread makes me wonder-- have you ever liked a rip-off better than the original?

Let the rock-throwing begin:

I think A PERFECT MURDER is a better movie than DIAL M FOR MURDER.

The remake of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS is magnificent junk. And by junk I meant all out Hollywood misappropriation and mauling of history as only Hollywood can do, with memorable lines and performances by the finest scenery chewers ever to attract.. NAY, DEMAND! the attention of an audience.

I'll second Aquaman.

And add a Green Arrow.

Parker Lewis Can't Lose was better than the Ferris Bueller series.

SG1 was better than the Stargate film.

Does Battlestar Galactica count as a rip-off? the new version, I mean. That's the first one that came to mind for me.

X-Men are better than the Doom Patrol, IMO.

FF better than Challengers Of The Unknown? (that one is iffy as a ripoff)

I think that Air Wolf was a better show (and more succesful) than the Blue Thunder series that followed the movie.

I'll take Webster over Different Strokes.

Friends was better than Living Single.

David Croenberg's remake of The Fly was better than the
original. Likewise, John Carpenter's remake of The Thing
(no relation to the Fantastic Four character) is also better
than the original.

I've got nothing against Howard Hawks, but ICFAWTP.

Nice (and possibly accidental) foreshadowing, that appearance of the original film in HALLOWEEN, by the way.

B5 had a shitty final season. DS9 had no bad season. Therefore, DS9 wins.

Throne of Blood is better than any Hamlet movie. Same with Ran and King Lear.

The new Thing is a fantastic movie. The old Thing is great, but dated, cuz it isnt scary anymore.

I think the 1999 remake of House on Haunted Hill is scarier and more fun than the Vincent Price original. Geoffrey Rush camps it up most entertainingly, especially the sniping between he and Famke Jannsen.

When Rush first appears to his guests, you'd swear is was Price himself!

Carpenter's remake of the Thing is great, Zac Snyders remake of Dawn of the Dead is actually pretty good but stay away from the remake of Day of the Dead, it's awful.

And the UK version of Coupling (at least first three seasons, with Richard Coyle as Jeff) was better than Friends.

The last season of DS9 had Vic Fontaine. That means fail. Though cute Dax nearly saved it.
