I would have had Bladerunner on there. Maybe Silent Running. And Soylent Green.

My ex-girlfriends Aunt and Uncle always used to visit.

Nice people, but very set in their ways. VERY old-fashioned.

They considered themselves very worldly and knowledgable, which was very open for debate.

Anyway, we were talking about Al Gore's doco, An Inconveient Truth. She then starts talking about a documentary she saw last week. She described it in great detail, and how amazing the science behind it was, etc etc.

It was the movie 'The Day After Tomorrow.'

She thought it was a real documentary.

I had to excuse myself, I couldn't hold my laughter in.

I don't know how the rest of the series went since I only saw
the pilot. (At the time, I did not have cable and a friend sent
me the DVD.) But I was impressed with the realism. Unlike
Star Wars (or even the Star Trek movies) you don't hear sound
effects when spacecraft explode in space. I was also surprised
to see the Vipers move laterally since my brain still perceived
them as "planes" that fly through the "air". But in outer space,
it should be possible for a fighter craft to move like that and it
SHOULD be able to move like that.

Also, the procedures that the Galactica went through during the
attack sounded like what might go on in a modern aircraft carrier.
Although we see future technology, the clothes, architecture, language
was deliberately designed to closely resemble 21st Century America.
When President Laura Roslin was sworn in, it's no accident that the
spacecraft she is on resembles an airplane----they based that scene on
photographs of Lyndon Johnson's swearing in on Air Force One after
Kennedy was assassinated.

Did the rest of the series live up to that pilot? (I need to put that on my
Netflix queue...)

One more thing....I don't know about the flying cars and
the psychics who can predict the future, but considering
that all these web sites "know" me whenever I visit, I found
the setting of Minority Report to be frighteningly realistic.
Big Brother isn't a dictator but somebody consumers blindlingly
agreed to create for their own convenience, not knowing what
they were giving up.

Battlestar Galactica, the miniseries was awesome. BSG the series is that same awesome x100.
