Write a short story, 500 words or more, and post it by Saturday, November 8th in this thread.

Genre: Western.

Cross-pollinating genres is fine, and the tone can be anything you want.

Edited to add:

Really great stuff so far. And if you're working on something, or thinking about it, don't sweat the deadline. :)

Star Trek, however, does not. Unless they land on a cowboy planet.

Only if at least 87% of the story takes place in the cowboy holodeck, and no one orders a sasparilla.

Ordering a sarsaparilla is very cowboy. What the hell is wrong with you?

I don't even have an idea yet. I just went ahead and started writing anyway.

That is what I am doing, too. So far, so good.

Can I have a sarsaparilla please?

If Monk's stupid rules are to be followed, Tuna just disqualified herself.

Good idea. Maybe this will give me an idea for a comic. It sucks that Firefly kind of wrecked the space western for everyone else, though.

The sasparilla rule is only in effect for Star Trek western holodeck fiction.

Well, there's not a whole lot of that floating around, so we should all be safe.

Is there any room for a straightforward redemption story?

As long as at least one character is wearing a cowboy hat, yes.
