I could have started this thread last night, but I couldn't bring myself to congratulate the Phillies after the abominable way their fans treated Tampa Bay Rays fans the past three games.
_________________ The Yankees win, THE YANKEES WINNNNN!!!! Most people wouldn't know music if it came up and bit them on the ass. FZ "Well, that kind of puts a damper on even a Yankee win." -- Yankees announcer Phil Rizzuto after reading a bulletin that Pope Paul VI had died

I was too busy to watch or even listen. What did the fans do?
But the Yankees can start buying people right away. Article in the Post today about how they have interest in Manny ... this will save me money as I will NOT support a team with A-Fraud AND Manny ... I hope it's just the Post being the Post.
This part makes him pathetic. I will not sit around and stomach this POS for 4 or more years. About the only move that would dishearten me more would be getting Bonds. Imagine that for a minute ... Bonds in left, Manny in right, A-Fraud at 3rd ... maybe they could sign Terrill Owens for center, and Pac-Man Jones to play 2nd and it would be perfect ... the most unlikeable (and weakest character) team in pro sports history.
I don't see the Yankees signing Manny or Texeria. Signing Manny clogs up the LF/DH spot. Damon can not play CF anymore. Texeira will command a 6-7 year deal, I do believe Boras is his agent, and that would clog up ARod's eventual move to first.
I would let Giambi, Pettite and Mussina go and sign Sabathia, and Abreau.
I still, rather routinely, hear people moaning about tax payers paying for the stadium as it is.
But, yes, I agree that the team's owners should have found the extra money, and contributed a dome to the project. There are going to be rain-outs and snow-outs. The rain-out days in this World Series kept me from following or caring much about the final results.
We're in for some nice winter scenery in April and probably September/October with that new Minnesota stadium not having a retractable roof.
And the lovely garbage burning station on the north end, the sweet aroma of the sewer system in the warehouse district, and watching the bums from the homeless shelter sell their wares, will all increase the pleasure of going to the ballpark.
The weather won't be a problem if they schedule April correctly, but an evening World Series game in late October does have the possibility of suckage.
For the first time in the history of the Dome, I did not attend a Twins game last season.
I think next summer a road trip to Detroit, Chicago, and Minnesota is in order. Hit MLB game in each city, and a minor league game or two along the way.
