Okay, I was drawn to Unknown Soldier #1 for some reason. And it was gewwwd.

I loved the old series in my Showcase. This one is set in 2002 Uganda, and though it starts out a little bit political, it is very pulpy. This pacifist doctor is becoming very un-pacifist and is going to become the Unknown Soldier, using force in this war beset by bad guys and bad situations all around. I loved the art.

I've got tons of comics I've never read. This is just brand new ones I bought within the last three or four weeks.

I have SOOO much unread stuff on the shelf. Omnibuses, Absolutes, Essentials, and Showcases alike.
I just blasted through the Unknown Soldier Showcase last week. Very good stuff. I didn't care so much for the Michelinie penned stuff at the end, which infused a fair bit of Vietnam-era sentiment into the Soldier's mindset. It didn't work for the patriotic character

That book was good. Most people agree it tails off in quality at the end. I think in the thread were I was reading and reviewing it (as I went along), I observed something similar to your Vietnam-era sentiment. I may have liked it (without necessarily agreeing with the politics behind the sentiment).

I went ahead and read RASL 3.

1. It is getting kind of good.
2. This book is weird.
3. No more issues until March 2009. Ugh.

I'm going to read me a funny book.

I choose . . . . Secret Invasion 7. I hear that there were some surprises or something. Better get that one out of the way before I tumble across a spoiler.

I can barely tell what's happening in the big battle scene. Art is terrible.

That stank. I'll be glad when it's over so somebody can tell me what's happened, and if any of my favorite titles are ruined.

Now, Final Crisis 4. The other Big Event comic. I can barely remember what happened in last issue.

Okay, not sure what happened there. I think they're putting some essential material in the spin-offs, which I'm not reading.

I got so backlogged that I just stopped buying almost everything until I catch up. In the last 6 months I've probably bought less than a dozen comics. I may just get trades from now on.

Secret Invasion is a big huge confusing mess filled with the occasional moment that reminds me why I like Bendis, and the occasional moment that reminds me why others don't.

The Thor one-shot by Alan Davis is pretty good, along with Spirit 22, Hulk 7(nice Art Adams art) & Captain America 43.

True.
For those who may not understand the reference, I present the Flaming Carrot origin.
