[bigred]94 Baker Street
The Pop-Psych Sounds Of The Apple Era 1967-1969[/bigred]

n the greater context of sixties pop history, [title]94 Baker Street[/title] may not have the same cachet as “The Brill Building” or even “Denmark Street,” but it was from that building - on the corner of Baker and Paddington in London - where some of the most exciting English pop and psych sounds of 1967 and 1968 originated. It was from 94 Baker Street that the Beatles launched their Apple organisation, starting with Apple Music Publishing, which opened for business at Baker Street in September 1967. Over the course of two years, Apple Publishing would nurture the careers of artists such as Focal Point, Grapefruit, the Iveys (who would evolve into Badfinger) and Tony Hill (of Misunderstood and later High Tide), all included here.

The highlights of those heady pop psych days are captured on this unique CD collection. Compiled and noted by the author of the book Those Were The Days (the history of the Beatles Apple Organisation), Stefan Granados, the package includes exclusive photos and artist interviews. There are also some exclusive tracks to this package such as the previously unreleased demos and alt. takes of the Focal Point, the McCartney produced Grapefruit, and the Iveys. Wrapped up in a sumptuous RPM poster inlay what more could a collector want?

1. Love You Forever - Focal Point
2. Sycamore Sid - Focal Point
3. Never Never - Focal Point
4. Girl On The Corner - Focal Point
5. 'Cept Me - Focal Point
6. Dear Delilah - Grapefruit
7. Ain't It Good - Grapefruit
8. Lullaby - Grapefruit
9. Another Game - Grapefruit
10. Breaking Up A Dream - Ways & Means

12. Maybe Tomorrow - Iveys
13. Tube Train - Iveys
14. She Came Out Of The Cold - Iveys
15. I've Been There Once Before - Iveys

[bigred]An Apple A Day
More Pop-Psych Sounds From The Apple Era 1967-1969[/bigred]

94 Baker St, (RPM 270) , the Pop Psych Sounds from the Apple Era has been one of the RPM catalogue's strongest sellers in recent years. Thus with the assistance of, the author of the History of the Beatles Apple Organization book, we have constructed a second volume.

The Apple Music publishing company was first into battle for the new organisation, making its initial signings in mid 1967, in fact before the company even got to 94 Baker St. Over the next two years they demo'd many writers and placed recordings where possible. Inevitably given the amount recorded much remained unissued and we are happy to be able to give many of those songs a well deserved airing.

Highlights includes four more previously unissued Iveys tracks, the first recordings of Gallagher & Lyle, and the cult Bachdenkel who provide the title track. The sleeve notes are a lovingly documented essay by Stefan Granados including many rare pics and memorabilia.

1. The U (Don't) No Who (Aka Bachdenkel) - An Apple A Day (Previously Unreleased)

Any idea about what happened to the The Iveys demos that RPM was going to put out ? They supposedly had a lot of material and these were simply the tip of the iceburg.
