Just finished watching "The Incredible Hulk" on DVD (released today) and I just wanted to make a nice little poll.

No contest. My second-favorite Marvel character overall, behind only Spider-Man.

The Hulk is a long-running favorite of mine; one of my Holy Trinity of Superheroes (Supey and Thor, natch). Haven't watched it yet, but went to Super Wal-Mart at midnight last night to get the 3 disc.

That said, I have to put Madman and the Dragon as runners-up.

Yeah, definitely The Hulk.

At DC, it'd be Swamp Thing.

Easily Ben Grimm.

Hellboy's a favorite, but I'll vote for Swamp Thing.

He wasn't a monster, just kind of homely.

I know; I'm just on a Doc Savage kick right now. :)

In some ways, I always saw Monk Mayfair as a forerunner of Ben Grimm; a big brute who was a lot smarter than anyone guessed, and whose favorite pastime was arguing with one of his teammates.

I wouldn't have thought of Madman as a "monster hero" right away. With his mask on, he looks like (and is built like) a regular dude...and personality-wise, he's about the nicest cat around. Get that mask off him, though, and that whole "Frankenstein's monster" vibe comes through loud and clear.

Good call.

The Thing.

If I could vote second place, Swamp Thing.

I like Man-Thing but do not see him as a hero so much as a catalyst.

Sasquatch rocks not as much as the above characters.

Of this list, probably the Thing. Oddly enough, I don't think of him as a monster.
I also remember liking Morbius, the Living Vampire, when he first appeared.

Y'know, I love the concept of Doc Savage so very much, but man, these novels are dull as get-out. I've tried several times, reading Man of Bronze, Fortress of Solitude, Devil Genghis and half of Land of Terror.

How are you liking these things?
