Earlier today, I was invited to attend my very first comic con (well, comic and toy/collectibles convention).

...okay, that isn't entirely true. I was kinda-sorta invited to one last weekend (well, all the colourists at All Thumbs Creative were), but the invite was so last-minute, and I had to help out my mom (who has been recovering from surgery) that I wasn't able to attend. But this is the first one where I was invited specifically. So.

I'll be posting the info on it on my website, but here it is for anybody here who is interested and in the Winnipeg area in early November (yeah, I know, not likely :) ):

Manitoba Annual Collectors Expo 2005
Sunday, November 6th, 2005
Assiniboine Gordon Hotel (The A)
1975 Portage Ave.
10am – 4pm

Admission is $2.00 adults, $1.00 kids, $5.00 family of four.

That's actually how Linda dresses for January in Tampa. :)

You should try living here - at least we don't worry about hurricanes :)

Okay, it was an admittedly very early snowfall, catching a lot of people off guard. But, it is all gone now (while we do get snow in October, it usually isn't very much at any one time...except this year...and the first snow that will actually last doesn't usually happen until November 10th or so. Right around Rememberance day).

Around Morden and Pilot Mound (south and west of Winnipeg), it got pretty deep, closing highways and such. I think it is pretty much gone out there as well, though.

So, on the 6th, there shouldn't be any snow. Or not much. It will be cold though. Can't do much about that ...

Another one - Arcana Studios sent me a nice pile o' comics to give away as well - I even managed to sell some artwork (and made a ton of contacts!).

..of course, by the end of it, all the comics (and action figures they gave me) were gone (people are so friendly when you offer them free stuff :) ).

I even managed to pick up a 'Hulkbuster Iron Man' action figure for myself - I would have gotten the traditional red n gold figure, but the only one I could find was $50 CDN...I like to take my figures outta their packages and put 'em on display, so I thought that was a bit steep...

Great con, though - I had a great time (and was just dead tired afterwards).

Aw, thanks :)

Oh, and just so's ya know, there was no snow. I think there had been a flurry or two over the weekend, but it all melted as it hit the ground. :P
