Willie is coming to Concord this summer, and we are thinking about going. My wife thinks he may be too mellow. Any thoughts on how he is live? Thanks.

I love Willie's shows. I don't know that "mellow" is right though. I mean, he does have a relaxed vocal delivery, phrasing his lyrics in unusually ways. But that's part of his charm. I also love his guitar playing, which isn't showy by any means but very expressive.

I saw the live video he did with Johnny Cash, and I was blown away by his guitar playing.

I saw him a couple of years ago. Very little banter; just kept playing song after song. It wasn't mellow at all.

I just read somewhere that Willie Nelson smokes pot. Jeepers? Who would have thought such an upstanding member of the country music community would engage in illegal activities...?

It's been a couple of years since I last saw him, but I've seen him several times over the years and have always enjoyed his concerts.
