This is the cartoon that is a Ronin knock-off, right?

Looks grim and gritty to me. Is it? Grim? And/or gritty? I'd have loved it when I was fifteen, mind you.

It's got a grim 'n gritty setting but the actual tone of the series is more whimsical and high-adventure. It's definitely fun.
Or were you talking about
Ronin ?

A bit grim and gritty but appropriate for kids. It's set in the far future and while he "kills" tons of enemies and creatures, they're all obvious robots. He goes up against live adversaries as well, but not a lot of bloodshed there.
Mostly serious stories filled with fun characters.

There was one troll that followed him around, trying to change the subject, trying to shift the focus to himself.
I think he got killed off-camera.
