In Europe, particularly in non-English speaking countries, Donald Duck is HUGE. They sell hundreds of thousands of issues of Donald Duck comics per
week in some countries. The Barks tales are so beloved that they are ubiquitous in pop culture. A store display might feature a scene from a story, and everyone knows instantly what story it is from. As far as I know, no other comic characters come close to the popularity of the Ducks.
But here in the US? Not so much.
