I do not have the Kansas "Audio Visions" remaster, but I defnitely want to get it. I saw it at my local used store the other night for 12.99 which is 2x more than they would normally charge.
I passed, but saw it's OOP, however some sites like Amazon have it cheap. My question-it was re-released earlier this year (it said March 2008). Is this still the '96 remaster, or a repeat of an earlier copy (if there ever was one)?
Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks!

The latest release (the one which came out this past March) is a budget-priced reissue of the '96 remaster, via Sony/BMG Special Markets:

I think that the "Nice Price" reissues which Sony has been putting out this year contain all the original packaging, so you'd be getting the full booklet and everything. But if you don't want to take any chances, the 1996 pressing can still be obtained cheaply through Amazon's third party dealers:

I just noticed a similar situation with some of the Willie Nelson remasters as well... the 2003 issues are out of price and selling for elevated prices, but there are 2008 reissues selling new for 6 bucks or so. I almost want to pick up one of the 2008 issues just to see if they're the same, but my experience (so far) with Sony/BMG Special Products is sort of "pay cheap/buy cheap". It seems a little like a strategy to parallel recent spate of Rhino Flashback reissues.
