'Daddy's Gone' is a great track by this band. Kinda like the Proclaimers meets the Clash meets the Ronettes.

http://www.nme.com/news/glasvegas/39647 Glasvegas: 'We've made an 'album' not just tracks'
Sep 11, 2008
Glasvegas have claimed that their debut album, released on Monday (September 9) in the UK, is a "rare thing", an album that flows from start to finish and doesn't rely on one-off songs.
Guitarist Rab Allan said he was immensely happy with the self-titled release, which has so far sold over 30,000 copies this week, securing it gold sales status before it has even entered the UK charts.
"It feels like a proper album because it flows from start to end," he told NME.COM. "We've made an album that people want to hear. That's a rare thing, because it all seems to be about individual tracks these days."
The guitarist added that he had been taken aback by the amount of praise lavished on the album so far, although he agreed that it was a great piece of work.
"I'm so happy with the album," he said. "When we hear it we still go, 'wow'.
"Everyone who's heard the album has absolutely loved it, and for us that's special."

http://www.nme.com/news/glasvegas/39701 Glasvegas: 'We never expected our album to chart so highly'
Sep 14, 2008
Glasvegas have spoken about their chart success today (September 14), saying that they never expected their self-titled debut album to chart as high as Number Two in the UK album charts.
Metallica beat Glasvegas to the top spot in the album charts, with their album 'Death Magnetic' entering at Number One ahead of the Scottish band.
Speaking to NME.COM this afternoon, Glasvegas frontman James Allan said that getting in the charts was never on his agenda, although he was proud of the achievement.
"I don't think any kind of artist looks that far down the line and expects that [chart] stuff," he said. "You're giving yourself a hard time trying to make something special that's true to yourself."
Allan said he wasn't surprised to see Metallica bag the top spot.
"I was surprised at how many it [the Glasvegas album] was selling," he said. "But I knew Metallica were going to bring out an album in the same week. They're enormous.
"If it was the biggest R'n'B artist in the world [it would have been the same chart situation]. That's the kind of level they're at. They're the biggest metal band in the world."
The singer/guitarist went on to praise his band-mates in the wake of the chart announcement.
"I'm so proud of everybody who has been with the band, and the band themselves," he said. "Early on, especially with the accent, some people thought we were a joke.
"The things I was writing about when I was unemployed, the thoughts I was trying to express, now that's in a lot of people's minds. It's in their homes or it's in their cars or it's in a club."

http://www.nme.com/news/glasvegas/42102 Stars come out for Glasvegas' first-ever LA gig
Jan 15, 2009
Glasvegas played their very first show in Los Angeles last night (January 14) for a sold-out, star-studded crowd at the Troubadour.
Fans queued for hours trying to get tickets for the hotly tipped show, some paying more than three times the face-value ticket price to see the Glaswegians perform.
Taking the stage bathed in white light and fog, the band launched into 'Flowers And Football Tops' and segued into 'Lonesome Swan'.
Frontman James Allan said very little throughout their 50-minute set aside from "thank you" to the adoring crowd, which included famed U2 and Metallica producer Rick Rubin, Lisa Marie Presley and her husband, producer Michael Lockwood, former Bauhaus man David J and The Charlatans' Tim Burgess.
"I wrote this song yesterday and I think it's the best song I've ever written," quipped Allan before playing a cover of 'Be My Baby', the Phil Spector tune made famous by The Ronettes.
The crowd went wild for hits including 'Geraldine' and 'Daddy's Gone', which ended the night and culminated in a mass-singalong.
Before the show, Allan told NME.COM that it was his first ever trip to Los Angeles. "It's a bit hot here for us Glaswegians," he said, adding that the warm weather may help his sore throat resulting from doing so many US television and radio promos.
Former Dirty Pretty Things and The Libertines man Carl Barat opened for Glasvegas, performing songs from both of his former bands as well as solo material. Barat stood on stage alone with his electric guitar, except when he was joined by Glasvegas' Allan, who harmonised with him on the chorus of 'Blood Thirsty Bastards'.
Glasvegas played:
'Flowers And Football Tops' 'Lonesome Swan' 'Cheatin Heart' 'Please Come Back Home' 'Polmont On My Mind' 'Geraldine' 'Ice Cream Van' 'Go Square Go' 'Be My Baby' 'Stabbed' 'Daddy's Gone'
