I don´t know if Roxanne is taken orders for this already, I hope yes because it seems that is limited to 5000 units.

This is the box:

And this is the japanese page for this release:

http://wmg.jp/wmlife/sp/zepkami

The albums are SHM-CD but only The Song Remains The Same includes a new remaster and extra tracks.

The cover artwork size is taken from the UK release (the previous were from the USA), includes 6 extra sleeves (one from the first album and 5 from ITTOD). From the pictures I can see different OBI strip for the first albums.

This release was advertised before without box but finally cancelled and presented this way for september 10. The problem were the promo items, as it happens with most maker promo items offered by mailing coupons these are available only for people with japanese adress, so for the foreigners the only way to receive them were to have the help from japanese residents. So I think that this was the main reason to cancel it and to include the limited box giving this way the option for foreigner people to buy the whole lot including inside the box the extra covers.

2008 ten CD box set from Led Zeppelin featuring all ten albums in beautiful mini-LP reproductions! The Led Zeppelin 40th Anniversary Cardboard Sleeve Reissue Series is in the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (fully compatible with standard CD players) and features advanced cardboard sleeve replicas of the original UK E-style album jackets, plus six bonus cardboard sleeves including five alternate jackets for In Through The Out Door and one alternate jacket for Led Zeppelin I utilizing the original ink. From their 1969 debut album straight through to their final album in 1979, Zeppelin laid the blueprint for what is now known as Classic Rock, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. It really doesn't get better than this!. Warner. 2008.

They are using the '94 masters for everything except TSRTS. The only improvement will be the SHM discs. I put in an order for 4 boxes..... 3 are sold and one is for me :ohyes:

Word has it that Page is working on the remasters, hope the rumour is true, the most recent comp and the TSRTS shows how good the sound can be.

The 1990s Zep remasters sound just fine to me. I don't see how they could be improved upon, myself. Now that The Song Remains The Same has been upgraded, I don't see myself buying any more Zeppelin on CD unless Jimmy delves into the vaults for perhaps another live Zep album or something of that ilk.

Bump ~ this is one of the rare times that Amazon will be stocking a Japanese mini LP sleeve boxed collection, so I've added their pre-order link and additional details to the first post.

I'm not a mini-LP type guy, but I'll admit that something like this does look nice. And I'll also admit I did get the Queen box set with that type of packaging ten years ago because it has its own felt-lined box to protect them from wear an' tear.

Quick question about SHM-CD: They refer to it as a "high-fidelity format," but it's really just a standard CD with slight differences in the physical materials used to manufacture the disc, right? There's nothing different about the mastering, encoding, etc. I wouldn't call that another "format" any more than I'd call a gold CD a "format."

Gold CD is a good analogy, Ven. SHM is supposed to make for a more accurate reading of the data on the disc by your player's laser. Fewer error corrections, less interpolated data. We've had ICErs in other threads who have mentioned a distinct difference in the listening experience, and ICErs who have mentioned that they didn't hear any difference. Could be a combination of your player, your whole system, your ears, and whether or not you're familiar with the original vinyl as to whether or not an SHM disc will sound better or more accurate to you.

Either way, it will certainly sound more expensive than vinyl... :) Aesthetically, I also think it's superior to the previously released domestic box.

My copy of this, on order at Amazon in Japan, is currently listed as "Shipping Soon". With the Fedex shipping that they utilize, I'm guessing it should arrive before week's end...

I went to the Amazon Japan site and it's priced at 28,000 yen how much is that in dollars?......I looked it up on Ebay and it looks like it's between $275 and $300.

You can use the Universal Currency Convertor to figure out the price.

http://www.xe.com/

It looks as though there was something subtracted off of the listed price of ¥ 28,000 -- perhaps it's some sort of Japanese tax? The pricing for my order is as follows:

Item(s) Subtotal: ¥ 26,667
Shipping & Handling: ¥ 2,000
Total Before Tax: ¥ 28,667

That’s about $265 (plus I usually figure in another $5 or so for currency exchange bank fees)

So, if Jimmy Page is working on remasters now...why release this set now? Why not wait till the new remasters are done and use this to introduce them before selling them separately?

Could it be that Jimmy page isn't really working on new remasters that it's only a rumor or that these discs are the last go round for the old remasters.

Got it today -- while I haven't listened to any of it yet, the presentation sure is nice! But I am a sucker for the mini-LP sleeves!

Let us know whether you notice any improvement in sound over the last batch. I'm extremely skeptical that disc material makes an audible difference (again, gold discs come to mind).

Jimmy Page originally stopped the release of this box set, and then decided to let Universal Japan release it after all. This was according to the Universal Japan press release sent to my distributor. To the best of their knowledge, there will be no new remastered version in the foreseeable future. That was why he allowed them to release it on SHM pressed cds. I can't believe that there is a price of over $400 for that box set on Amazon. I listed it at approx. $240 on preorders. I've got six coming plus individual releases. Anybody paying $400 + needs their head examined.

Guess that means the only alternate mastering for now is the 3CD promo set from a few years ago...

Shame...I think Mothership sounds great. Wish the catalog would get the same treatment.

I know Page's digital transfers were the source for John Davis' work on Mothership... anyone know who did the mastering on the promo set?

This box set will be coming out domestically on November 4th:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001FSDP08/?tag=imwan-20

(It will probably contain standard aluminum CDs rather than the Japanese SHM discs, but I don't yet have confirmation of this one way or the other.)
