So, I went into my local comic store on Thursday to pick up my comics to get this weeks comics. He likes to set up the stacks of all the comics for people to pick and choose, unless they specifially want him to fill their boxes. I love doing this, because it gives me a lot of freedom in what I purchase each week. He always makes sure that the low order items that I am likely to get are in my box, since I'm not always there early on Wednesday.

Well, this week, when he got into my box, he had a copy of the Classic Invaders Vol. 1 tpb in my box. I hadn't ordered it, so I had a perplexed look on my face. However, based on some comments about Frank Robbins' art the week before, and how I really enjoyed the series back in the 70s, he put it in there as a gift.

Yes, a GIFT.

I just got through rereading the book, and it was fun, if a bit monologuish. Roy Thomas was the writer, and well...

Frank Robbins is not everyone's cup o' tea, but he really had a good feel for those stories.

Yep, this was a fun week for me and comics.

A Free Comic Book Day issue of Alternative Comics that had a depiction of Picasso in the nude (no sex act, he just happened to be nude in a scene). It accidentally ended up in the hands of a child, and Lee was charged.

They had already fined him for selling adult comics to adults. His giving a kid a comic with a nude guy in it was an "Ah ha!" moment for the cops.
