With all due respect to Marvel Comics, to me The Blob will always be an underrated horror movie remake in the '80s that was unjustly panned by critics.

He's got no powers now, right? Last time I saw him he was super skinny and a huge amount of stretched out skin :)

I'm not supposed to leak this, but the press release is going out on Thursday anyway, so:
Spoiler: show
The Blob is the character who orchestrated the Marvel Civil War

And now you know.

You know what happens to a blob that gets struck by lightning?

Chunks of fat EVERYWHERE. Gross.

Not in the very least!

I can see Marvel trying a Blob miniseries. It would be one of those that they put out with no fanfare, for no apparent reason, that doesn't sell very many copies. They do that all the time.

They might even try it as an ongoing. In that case somewhere around issue three or four (i.e. when it becomes clear that it's crashing and burning) they'll sudden start soliciting the last couple of issues as a mini, as if that had been the plan all along.

Who did that art, by the way? I really like it. Love the watercolour look.

Is such a series in the works? It seems like an odd choice. I always liked the Blob as an X-Men villain -- mainly the way he was the evergreen member of the Brotherhood, no matter how the roster changed around him. He was the Tim Meadows of Evil Mutants!

But seeing him solo, I don't know. I can't say I find him THAT interesting.

Not that I'm aware of. Just thought it would be an interesting idea. I like The Blob, he's a very primal character with cool powers, wish he had joined The X-Men in his first appearance and stuck around to be a permanent rebel/irritant/problem child for the team. Always hitting on Jean, fighting with the other boys ....

What--Wolverine didn't end up being enough trouble when he came along?

Besides, Wolverine's got that cool power that lets him appear in a dozen or more books every month. I guess he must have learned something from meeting Jamie Madrox.
