Here's a poem that I wrote. I hope you like it. It's based partially on my adventures visiting this world. :ohyes:

Girl Meets Dream

Late one night
In the forest of dreams
I tumble to the ground
To reason with debris

Sorting through my hopes
Crawling on my knees
Nothing goes to waste
It's never what it seems

Fly along the forest floor
With no room left to spare
Broken, tangled, misty fears
Are caught inside my hair

Here, all beads of broken words
My lungs have ever wrought

There, are strands of quiet tears
Which speak of courage sought

All the songs upon my lips
Are echoed from before
As every taste of intuition
Leaves me more unsure

Girl meets dream
Dream swallows girl whole
I travel very fast
But I've nowhere left to go

Girl loses dream
Dream brings girl back
Girl gets dizzy
Dream circles back

Girl get's lost
Dream get's bold
Dream swallows girl
Dream is getting full

All the ageless branches
Are falling from the trees
They melt into the air
And mingle with the breeze

I stand upon a silver gate
I open up the door
And fall into a vacuum cloud
And travel to the core

It takes me out the other side
I'm dreaming inside out
Full confidence has been replaced
With dreaded, stinging doubt

Girl meets dream
Dream swallows girl whole
I travel very fast
But I've nowhere left to go

Girl fights dream
Dream stays on track
Girl won't fold
The dream is in control

Girl get's lost
Dream get's cold
Dream swallows girl
The dream is getting bold

I choke on fresh air
My world begins to spin
The dream is growing stronger
I circle right side in

And sideways, right side down
I'm feeling every sound
I'm seeing every angle
While hearing what I smell

I taste the chance to listen
The noise is very loud
The upper crust of lower valley
Feast's upon a burnt out shell

And dreaming of the dream inside
This dream's a dead end scene
Escape the inner twilight heights
A twisting burning stream

The nightmere sheds it's sleek facade
I hit the see through door
I turn the knob and see the night
I fall through skies into the light

The trees grow close, I hear no sound
With feet I boast, I'm on the ground

I do not fear, the mornings near
I feel and hear my heartbeat curse
My lungs which rise so dear it hurts

Then I fly into a yard
The vacuous vortex is on again
I did not wake, the dream's a den
I meet the night and chase the stars

I will not run for now I know
The dream now sleeps, it took it's toll
But now I am in full control
The dream would feast on doubts I hold
Though still it sleeps in realms untold
The dream at last is truly full...

Reading it reminds me very much of hearing the lyrics to "The Windmills of Your Mind." The lyrics are not actually similar. They do evoke a similar feeling.

Round
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever-spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain
Or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel thats turning
Running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Like a tunnel that you follow
To a tunnel of its own
Down a hollow to a cavern
Where the sun has never shone
Like a door that keeps revolving
In a half-forgotten dream
Or the ripples from a pebble
Someone tosses in a stream
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle in your head
Why did summer go so quickly?
Was it something that you said?
Lovers walk along a shore
And leave their footprints in the sand
Is the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand?
Pictures hanging in a hallway
And the fragment of a song
Half-remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong?
When you knew that it was over
You were suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the colour of her hair

Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever-spinning reel
As the images unwind
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Nice poem.

If you've never heard it sung, hearing it as a song adds a lot to it.

It's best remembered as the opening theme to "The Thomas Crown Affair" in 1968. The lyrics were by Alan and Marilyn Bergman and sung by Noel Harrison.

Warning: If you listen to it sung, you may have a hard time getting it out of your head!

you would really like William Blake, Francine.
I think the replacement of senses one for the other is called synthesthesia...
I wondered if you had a dream-as-nemesis like this, or was this a waking flight of fancy?
Transmuting the elements of words to arrive at different uses and meanings is a way
of asserting a higher consciousness and breaking with mundane thought.

Oh, it's definitely written based on my awakened experiences. But I thought it would be good to present it as though it had a dream-like quality. I'm glad you thought it was alright. William Blake? Hmmm...I'll have to google him. :ohyes:
