I'm just reminded of [a slight variation on] the Temptations' 1968 hit at an interesting time.

line from Citizen Kane, that has been in my head the past few days...
Charles Foster Kane: Don't worry about me, Gettys! Don't worry about me! I'm Charles Foster Kane! I'm no cheap, crooked politician, trying to save himself from the consequences of his crimes! [Screams louder] Charles Foster Kane: Gettys! I'm going to send you to Sing Sing! Sing Sing, Gettys! Sing Sing!

It's not clear from the news reports whether "Client 9" was the designation given to him by the escort service, or simply was the designation used in the Feds' recent affidavit which mentioned Clients 1-10. I suspect it was actually the latter.

I don't personally know anything about this, but Rachel Maddow claims that a current Republican NY Senator whose first name is David (I don't remember his last name) did the exact same thing with no consequences.

David Vitter is the junior Louisiana Senator (R) who was involved in a similar case. His name was found on the client list of the "DC Madam" last July.Vitter apologised and has slinked & slithered his way around since, managing to hold onto his job and avoid censure. Vitter did say he had apologised to God, something Spitzer failed to do. That could be another reason why he's still in office and Spitzer's gone.

Amy Schilling, Art Therapist"How embarrassing. I hope the media doesn't make too big a deal out of this story of big money, unbridled power, and hot sex." Paul Mallen, Systems Analyst"My daughter lives in New York! I hope to God she wasn't involved—was she one of the prostitutes? Is my daughter a prostitute? Has anyone in New York seen Laura Mallen?"

Uh-oh, I see my buddy John has declared himself "Client #8." Let's hope his wife doesn't know about this!

According to Conan O'Brien (I think) Charlie Sheen is actually Clients 1-8.

Dave Letterman says Eliot was actually known as Client 4 1/2 to the girls.
