Does anyone know if the Toto CD Livefields was ever released in the U.S. or was it available as an import only?

Thanks

Starz,

It was released in the USA, but is long out of print and available only at "collectible" prices:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00007GX3A/?tag=imwan-20

Unless you get lucky at eBay or a local shop, the cheapest way to currently obtain it NEW is as part of this 3-CD import:

Amazon UK:

TOTO to start their own label in the U.S. — 25 August 1999
TOTO have decided to put out LIVEFIELDS on their own label in the U.S. They have just made a deal with a company to sell all their stuff on the internet. It will be like their own personal record store, merchandizing etc... They can sell CD's, T-shirts, picks, guitars, drums and anything else they want as well as the Sony catalogue. Steve Lukather says that this way they will be able to keep the fans from getting ripped off.

I do not know if this ever transpired as I never saw the cd available as a domestic release. Maybe it was available only online ??? The Toto archives section does not show an actual U.S. release date. Everything under the Sony/Columbia label has to be an import release.
Falling In Between was issued on Toto's own label in 2006 and this is the only release I am aware of on their own label. Ain't the music business fun!!!

Please add any info if known :)

Steve Lukather (Luke Daddy) told everyone on AOL not to buy the import version of Livefields and to hold out for the domestic version. I never saw or heard about a domestic version. I did see the import version a couple of times, but I remembered Luke's words and left it alone. (Why? Well, my wife had picked up Mindfields for me as a European import while in France. Consequntly, I missed out on "Spanish Steps" when Mindfields was released here in America. Now, I've missed all of Livefields too!)

The new live album has been released as an import, but it's been confirmed that it will be released domestically in the Spring as well (April, I think). I believe that's the album without David Paich and Mike Porcaro, which barely makes it Toto. However, they do attract high quality musicians, so I'm sure it's a solid effort.

Jim

Falling In Between was not released on their own label which did not exist at the time (does it even now?). That was issued in 2006 on Frontiers records-it did get a US release eventually (long after the fact) but I'm not sure by who-maybe they put it out themselves, I don't know.
I've had Livefields since it came out back in 1999 and I had no idea it was rare. It's 2 discs, but the 2nd disc is very short, only 3 songs and 2 videos. I rarely listen to it, although it's very good. That was issued on Columbia but only overseas. I saw the Minfields tour in 1999 in AC, one of the few US dates they played and it was amazing-one of the ebst shows I've ever seen.
I'd like to get the new live one but like JGordonBD said, it's only semi-Toto right now but the musicians are amazing and top notch of course.

Thanks for the help JGordon and IP. I guess Livefields was never released in the US. Falling In Between was issued in the US on the "label" Toto Recordings or Toto Network if I remember correctly(seeing the cd at Best Buy a while back). I just assumed this was their own label.
If you are a Bobby Kimball fan listen to the SS Fools cd with Michael Allsup, Joe Schermie and Floyd Sneed of Three Dog Night fame.Different sounding from Toto and TDN and very interesting music.

Thanks Again!!! :D
