Bannings: If you're not nice
These videos were posted to YouTube on behalf of the Bob Layton website ~ it's a tribute/roast for Jim Shooter, with Bob as the MC and also featuring many other comic book luminaries of the era. (I haven't watched these through yet so I don't know if Uncle Rog makes an appearance ...)

Also check out Bob Layton's website at http://www.boblayton.com ~ his webmistress is our own Sorah, and she's the one who oversees his YouTube stuff too. :)

No Uncle Rog, but Gruenwald, JB, De Falco, Carlin, Guice, and of course Shooter & Layton.
That's part 1, 2 & 3 of a big video from 1984, the rest coming next month.
Gruenwald is really funny. He was obviously gifted for this kind of stuff.
Other great stuff at http://www.boblayton.com in today's update:

I can't see myself, but, if memory serves, I was sitting towards the back of the room.

And I don't WANt this to turn into a "thing", but this was one of the conventions where they handed out pre-release xeroxed pages of Alpha Flight 13 revealing who was gonna die in issue 12. :)

And I don't WANt to stoke the "thing", but "one of the conventions?" There were multiple conventions where this happened? I thought it was a single instance for a few minutes at one convention before someone realized the mistake.

Linda: please rename thread "The great PAD Alpha Flight Incident Part ____" (and please fill in the blank).

You're a bad fan, Jay. :)

There are enough differences in the various versions of the stories to lead me to believe that there may have been several cons where the pages were passed out.

And so . . . the credibility of the "numerous letters" statement grows. Perhaps 1/3 of all fans saw the spoiler pages . . . perhaps 1/3 of the nation saw them even, and thought "what is this?"

Couldn't say. We were given the pages with our convention "swag bag" at the entrance. They were included with xeroxed pages from Sienkiewicz's first issue of New Mutants and from the first issue of Power Pack.

David tells one story. Byrne tells another. Neither one matches my experience. That's all I'm sayin'.

Seemed like a company Christmas party, where folks try desperately to be funny. Fine if you're there, but watching it back on tape... yeesh.
