(Technically I read more DC these days than Marvel, thanks to Vertigo, and have for some years now, but I don't think that's in keeping with the spirit of this poll, right?)

As it used to be Marvel had overall a beter universe, but the Earth 1 Earth 2 dc stuff was really original and great.
Today there nothing at Marvel that i'ld call a universe: There's a chaotic mess that doesn't reaspect the history of what used to be the Marvel Universe. I don't know those characters anymore. They are not the ones with whom i grow up.

DC: Getting ride of the multiverse after crisis on IE was their biggest error. That and trying to stick to the movie version of batman and getting ride of Batgirl-Babs and Supergirl.
But they still have a coherent universe and now the mutiverse is back, even if maybe not exactly as it was pre-crisis on IE. The main wrong thing at DC these days, violence, is limited to some writers.

Growing up I was a DC kid, when I read superhero comics, apart from a couple of collections of Marvel stuff I got here and there (mostly I read Harvey and Archie comics). Nowadays though, I have read much of the 60s Marvel universe and it's not even close. There is a sense of cohesiveness, of belonging together, that is totally absent from DC, no matter their intentions. I still enjoy some DC characters, particularly Batman, more than Marvel characters, but overall it's Marvel.

My first real comic reading experience was my brother sitting me down in front of a box of his friend's comics to babysit me while they went out. Contained within were Legion of Superhero comics featuring Superboy and Claremont X-Men comics by Paul Smith. I went with the X-Men, and I still prefer Marvel twenty years later.

It's not even close for me. There's a big trail off with DC after their top 7 characters or so. Where Marvel there's a trail off after their top 70 characters or so.
