In concept, Barry Allen. But in terms of the actual comics, I voted Wally West.
Oh, and Mahoney set you up. Mark'll be here any second to kick your @$$.

Bacause Mark like Jay better than both of them.
And again I agree with Monk.
Wally is my flash, and much more developed personality

Awww man, I can't decide. I've read far more Wally stories than Barry, but Barry was the Flash in all the comics digests I read as a kid. I like them both equally. I'll think about this a while...

Barry Allen has always bored me. Once Waid got a hold of Wally, I enjoyed reading about him.
I wonder if Wally is still at Barry-level speed now that he's back from his little family vacation?

Barry was a super-confident police scientist (before CSI was even around), who really enjoyed taking on forces greater than anyone ever imagined. He was travelling through time, through dimensions, able to vibrate his molecules down to pieces and reform when needed.
His personality was that he was a SCIENTIST with superpowers. He was always seeing what else he could do.
Wally grew up with superspeed, so was more of an athlete with powers, so he really didn't test himself the way Barry always was.
So, of those two, Barry is my favorite.
I just hope that XS isn't dead, since all of Barry's other descendents have now been killed.

The new Wally (post Kid Flash) is too tortured.
I'll take Barry before they darkened the character towards the end.

I never understood why they felt a need to "kill" Iris Allen. From that moment on, Barry Allen became less of the great hero he had been for so long.

I remember seeing that comic advertised in a couple of books I picked up that year, most likely a Superman book. I was dying to know who it was killing the guy in the Superman costume (no idea about Bizarro or who the Sandman was, I thought the cover was representative of the inside). Since I only got a new superhero comic once a year maybe, I didn't find out until just a couple of years ago!

Killing Iris did seem to be a weird decision. Dressing her up as Linda made it even weirder.
Anyone got a behind-the-scenes angle on who made that call, and why?

I'd have to scout out the exact interviews and such, but I believe it was Ross Andru's decision. He had recently taken over the book as editor and wanted to shake things up.
The death of Iris storyline and the subsequent search for her killer were entertaining to me, but after that the book floundered in my eyes.

As long as no one picks Max Mercury or the original Quicksilver.
