Certainly nothing to compare to many of the collectors here; but I'm still wound up from moving a network today for a foreign company (trying to explain the frustrating nuence to working with telco's with agitated foreign nationals while trying to dance gracefully in a train wreck can be exillerating tio say the least. Hey, but no wounds...overly gregarious today, I am)...
so I updated my music purchase database. It represents last 2-3 of weeks. I'm mostly a catelogue junkie.
Grateful Dead From the Vault 3
Bowie, David Young Americans DVD/A
Silver, Horace You Gotta Take A Little
Prince Planet Earth
Smashing Pumpkins Zeitgeist
Stewart, Rod unplugged
Miles, Buddy The Best of Buddy Miles
McCartney, Paul Choas and Creation in the Backyard
Reed, Lou Live In Italy
Stitt, Sonny "Live" at the Left Bank
Queen News of the World
Hawkwind Cosmic Overdrive
Jennings, Waylon Nashville Rebel
Come on, you uber-collectors...squash me!

Jimbo, what is the Holland-Dozier-Holland box set? Is it the UK 3-CD Invictus box?

Amazon.com tells me it's a Hip-O 3-CD box, mainly of Motown tracks, but also some HDH-Invictus tracks.

Hey Jimbo, where'd you get that Meddle MFSL? I've been debating whether to get it for awhile, or just stick with my current remastered version...

Yep, that's the one. All stuff that they wrote, produced, or recorded themselves. Released in 2005, but I just noticed it at 'Rama last week.
P.S. Today's bounty at J&R:
Very Best of LIttle Milton
Knife: Silent Shout (deluxe edition, 2CDs + DVD)
Tenpole Tudor: Stiff Anthology (2 CDs; compiles both albums and a boatload of bonus tracks, $11.99)
Knife was recommended by our ICEr friend Steve (a.k.a. Seg) in a thread a couple weeks ago, and I had to try it. He's never steered me wrong!

Can Holland-Dozier-Holland's collected works really fit on 3 CD's only? I'd have thought they created more music than that. Whatever, this box is a must for me. And the Invictus box, which should also cover Hot Wax AFAIK.

It turned up at Bleecker St. Records, I'm sure we must've shopped there during one of your NYC trips (a couple blocks over from 'Rama). One of the few places left that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for used collectables--I got the Floyd MoFi for $15.
The store stocks fewer used CDs than they used too, but the turn-over is high, and once in a while I find a goodie. Got a Japanese 2-CD pressing of Angel's Live Without a Net there for about 12 bucks, sure it would command much more on eBay.

The only cd's I got this past weekend were Modest Mouse's We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank and Billy Ray Cyrus's Home at Last. They were both first time purchases for me from either of them but are well worth it in my opinion since both are great.

I'm not even going to try to compete, but my most recent purchases are:
Dale Hawkins - Daredevil (rare acetates compiled on CD)
The Drifters - Featuring Clyde McPhatter/Rockin' & Driftin'
The Drifters - Up on the Roof/Under the Boardwalk
Miles Davis - Cookin'
Captain & Tennille - Songs of Joy - The Complete Captain & Tennille Collection
The mighty Captain & Tennille made some of the best pop of the '70s. I haven't listened to all six albums yet, but so far hardly a duff track! And this box is great value for money, as it's mid-price. Next up is The Complete Tony Orlando & Dawn box, also six CD's at mid-price.

My bad attempt at a drum hit and cymbal clang. Sorry it sucked as did the lame joke. No fun points for me this Friday, right?

I thought you were imitating the beat of "Suzie Q" by Dale Hawkins! If you like CCR's cover, try the original as well.
