On a similar note, I recently really enjoyed catching up on another oldie, "Electra Glide In Blue", which starred Robert Blake and was directed by James William Guercio, who was involved with the band Chicago for most of their earlier career. In fact, members of Chicago also appear in bit parts. As I recall, members of Chicago were also involved in the soundtrack. It was a gritty and entertaining movie and I thought that Robert Blake was terrific in the lead role of an undersized policeman trying to advance in the force in spite of his stature.
if i recall correctly the band who did the music was called "madura" and they were billed as "chicago w/out horns". their first album was even a double lp, as chicago's, i bought it, and i'm pretty sure it was downright terrible
