From Billboard.com (I guess this news could be in Jazz as well). This sounds great-I can't wait for this one!:
Bruce Hornsby will release his first full-length instrumental jazz album, "Camp Meeting," Aug. 7 via Legacy. Joined by renowned jazz musicians Christian McBride and Jack DeJohnette on bass and drums, respectively, Hornsby has recorded an 11-song mix of original compositions and covers of songs by John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Keith Jarrett and Bud Powell.
Additionally, the album will feature a previously unrecorded work by Ornette Coleman, "Questions and Answers." The trio plans to follow the release with a brief tour that will visit Northampton, Mass., on Aug. 10, the Newport Jazz Festival in Rhode Island the following day, Los Angeles on Aug. 22 and San Francisco on Aug. 23.

hornsby is never afraid to try something new.
i have a feeling that this will be very good.
his "piano jazz' album w/miriam mcpartland is a very intersting listen.
count me in on this for sure.
