I wonder if the rear of the the first LP has the original back cover; almost every other copy I've ever seen does not...

If it's like a typical Japan mini LP release, the artwork, including the back cover layout, will be exactly as with the original LP issue, and in this case, including the printed lyric sheet insert. Guaranteed.

I got them all, but have to wonder why Hoy Hoy was not included in the reissues.

Just received mine today and they sound better than the original UK and US cd releases. Isao Kikuchi at Warner Pioneer in Japan handled the remastering and in my opinion he did a good job and they sound close to the original vinyl issues. Can't say better than that really. The sleeves are of course exact replicas of the US vinyl, including original inserts

Any SQ comments on the new Japanese remaster of Waiting For Columbus, compared to the 2002 Rhino reissue? Does the new remaster include all the tracks that were restored on the Rhino version?

It has got three small headshot pics of Lowell, Richie and Roy. Underneath them is a large shot of the band.

Now if the remaining discs sound as good as the Rhino Columbus disc then I will be "all teeth" :D

Yes you are correct, it does have 4 small pics. The OBI is a weird double strip affair and I only just noticed it was hiding the fourth shot.

Just reporting in now that my full set of the Feat minis arrived just now. Firstly, let me say that i did buy these (and a couple of 'Umble Pie minis) from Roxanne and Jim, and want to compliment them to the highest degree on my first transaction with them. Their U.S. retail prices match the lower prices that a lot of the Japanese eBay sellers use (although they don't always remain that low unless they're a "buy it now"), only you 1) don't have to wait as long for shipping and 2) only pay $5.50 priority shipping instead of the $15-20 EMS from Japan. Everything is in perfect condition, and was very well packaged for max protection in shipping. So, a "Thanks" and "Extremely Well Done" to Roxanne and Jim! I'll be back the next time something of interest is released in this format.

SPOILER INFO (if you're waiting for yours and wish to be surprised, read no further!)

As suspected, the first Feat LP, aside from having the correct cover art, did include the original lyric sheet insert.

The first three discs replicate the old green Warner Bros. label. The rest use the Burbank Warners label.

An unexpected bonus was that all of the titles (except for two) have replicas of the old Warners/Reprise "Loss Leader" inner sleeves - a real nice touch for any old vinyl hounds like me. The two that didn't have these couldn't, as "Time Loves A Hero" and "Down On the Farm" both had custom inner sleeves for them, which of course have been replicated in lieu of the Loss Leaders sleeves.

I won't be able to start listening to these until tonight, but am encouraged by the remarks in this thread that said they have in fact been remastered in Japan.

"Hoy Hoy": In my experience with these mini LP campaigns, they in most cases only include a group's original catalog (yes, i know there have been some exceptions, Hendrix for one, and Cream). And since Hoy Hoy was an after-the fact release, that's why they didn't include it. But sometimes stray titles like that may show up down the road; perhaps they'll release that along with "Thanks I'll Eat It Here" at some point. We can only hope.

These discs are very nice sounding. I compared songs from the studio discs to the Rhino Box set and I think that if you like the sound on the box you wll like these new reissues.
