R.I.P.
I wasn't his biggest fan, but I enjoyed what he did with The Hulk.

I "sparred" with him back on his Writer Of Stuff website blog back during the Dubya administration. He and I were ideological opposites and I often considered him "the Michael Moore of comics" back then. Despite this, I've been saddened by his myriad of medical issues over the last decade and a half and his apparent destitution in his final years. I enjoyed his epic first run on The Incredible Hulk and his experimental Spider-Man 2099 creation along with his novel "Howling Mad" and the various Star Trek novels he wrote for Pocketbooks. ("Vendetta" was the "real" sequel to "The Best Of Both Worlds" in my view.) I don't know how someone who did so much ended up with so little toward the end.

A very, very talented writer. As I was telling Doot just yesterday after learning of PAD's passing, i will never forget when I first realized that the guy writing so many Spider-Man comics I liked was also the guy writing Star Trek novels I liked.
Felt like the guy was living on borrowed time for many, many years, but still was always hoping for a happier outcome. Rest in peace, Mr. David.

RIP His health was very poor for some time now, and I've sort of been dreading/expecting to hear this sooner rather than later, but it's still sad to hear.

Very sad. I enjoyed most anything I read from him, though I didn't seek much of it out besides his Hulk run. But Spider-Man 2099, The Death of Jean DeWolf, whatever it was, I usually enjoyed the work. I shared a whole lot more of my thoughts about his Hulk run here: viewtopic.php?p=2899248#p2899248

I always got nervous whenever anybody started talking about PAD here, because he had a way of showing up on a web site when his name was invoked. Kind of like something from an urban legend. I guess that won't happen anymore. Or if it does, it will be even more like an urban legend....
RIP to a writer nobody ever had any reason to call dull.

(Had to stay loyal to Marvel, after all ... ) Definitely a huge favorite of mine!

So you're Peter David gave spoilers of his own death? Clearly, the Alpha Flight cahir incident taught him NOTHING (But srsly, RIP to one of my faves.)

I guess I should mention my favorite work from PAD here: his Supergirl run in the early 2000s. It was a radically different take on the character, but I loved his Linda. I wish that had gone on for years. Instead he was forced to wrap it up prematurely. I know I'm in a minority, what with his legendary Hulk run among other things at Marvel that most people would choose. Still, I read it several times and might have to do it again now in memoriam.

That's a run I've always wanted to circle back to. I think it wasn't in my budget at the time, though I did read the original Gary Frank run of nine issues that started it. PAD working in the Superman universe is definitely up my alley.

I forgot about Fallen Angel. It was sort of a spiritual successor to his Supergirl run, with some hints and winks that the Angel was his Linda from that book. That drew me in and I ended up reading the whole run and the reboot at IDW too. In the latter run, we learn that the Angel cannot be Linda, but also meet her predecessor, who actually IS (even if he can't just come out and say it).
