The release date and details are very tentative information, awaiting a bunch of people on Team Beatles to sign off on everything. Will the final result be close to this? We shall see.
Both collections are being remixed by Giles Martin.
There will be improved stereo mixes on the Red album using AI to separate the instruments in the original mono mixes.
"Now And Then" (the final post-mortem Beatles track) uses George's guitar parts and harmonies from the aborted Anthology sessions, new drumming from Ringo, new vocals from Paul (with AI applied to make him sound younger), and newly added strings.
"Free As A Bird", "Real Love" and "Now And Then" will be extra tracks on the Blue album.

This is interesting. I understand more info to come, but any feel if the 'expanded' will be only the "Free As A Bird", "Real Love" and "Now And Then" tracks, or additional tracks from the respective periods?

if that's it, only one unreleased song.

I wouldn't expect any more unreleased than that. I think the new mixes are the main selling point.

It is amazing, how a group who recorded for less than a decade could release TWO DOUBLE ALBUMS and still have many (arguably) classic songs omitted, so (not that I personally particularly want to dip yet again) there is definitely room for expanded versions.
Going from memory, some songs those collections omit include 'Twist and Shout', 'I Saw Her Standing There', 'Things We Said Today', 'If I Fell', 'I'm a Loser', 'Rain', 'Here There and Everywhere', 'For No One', 'The Inner Light', 'Blackbird', Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End', 'Two of Us'.
If they are going to include the three completed Lennon songs, then the Love version (the original is on there) of 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' could also be worth consideration.

I was vague in my post - when I mentioned 'additional tracks from the respective periods' I was meaning contemporaneously released songs, as Andrew mentioned (and as others pointed out how much available space is on the discs). But on the flip, these albums (on 8-track) were my intro to Beatles (and subsequent obsession with Beatles and music collecting) that there is a certain purity to the as-is releases. I personally would not want any 'vault' material here.

See, using AI to de-mix stuff, I'm good with. But this? I dunno. This feels like cheating to me. (Although, those Rolling Stone remixes where Jagger adds new lead vocals to old, unreleased tracks maybe could've benefited from this.)
And to Renny...I agree about your duping comment, but you'd still need at least the Blue comp for the clean, unsegued open to "A Day In The Life".

Jagger's voice has held up much better over the last few years than McCartney's. I'm surprised any computer would have enough processing power to de-age his current voice.

I'm curious how AI actually does this. What we call AI isn't really AI. It's essentially sophisticated plagiarism software that completes the most logical step in a series from all the possibilities on the internet, so what if AI is used to retouch his vocals, does that mean it takes all his earlier vocals, parcel them out, and substitute those sounds for the horrible old man sounds he's making when he records the current vocal? Is there a part of this I'm not understanding?
Genuinely curious if someone has a nice, clear answer to the nature of this process.
