Description
Jackson Browne’s classic album Running On Empty is now available on CD in its original packaging and with newly remastered audio! Featuring 10 live performances recorded in 1977 between August 17 and September 18 by Browne and his band: guitarist Danny Kortchmar; David Lindley on fiddle and lap steel guitar; keyboardist Craig Doerge; bassist Leland Sklar; drummer Russ Kunkel; and background vocalists Doug Haywood and Rosemary Butler. Together, they recorded these songs in natural settings, such as a Holiday Inn hotel room, a backstage rehearsal space, on a tour bus, and on stage.

odd that the bonus tracks added to the last remaster are not on here.

That makes absolutely no sense! Why can’t a label do a proper deluxe version of this ? There has to be an incredible amount of alternate tracks available considering the large number of concerts that were recorded for this project.

I'm guessing that there could be a deluxe version with a number of concerts that this project was culled from but with my luck it would wind up like "Live and Dangerous" costing an arm and a leg and being available for a minute and a half before it is insanely priced... :evil:

I wish a box-set series, similar to the current ones for Joni Mitchell, could be done for Browne's career when he was under the Warner umbrella.

jackson browne is most certainly in need of a career spanning box set, and a rarities compilation, of which could easily be 2 CD's, if not more

Maybe worth noting that this reissue is on Jackson's own Inside label rather than Elektra/Rhino/Asylum... if he licensed the material for this release, he may not have had the rights to the bonus material ("Cocaine Again" and "Edwardsville Room") from the 2005 CD/DVD release.

FWIW, the subsequent 2019 Elektra/Asylum reissue -- also supposedly a "new remaster" at the time -- did not include any bonus material.

My gripe is there's already been 3 previous remasters of this; & the 1 remaster of the first 2 & Hold Out are bricked. At least Late For The Sky & Pretender have DCC CD's.
