Despite its age, the first one is just about perfect. Sometimes you can see a certain logic to a reboot of a franchise. Good concept with bad acting or special effects (or both) that deserves a second chance, or maybe an older black and white film that could capture a new audience if modernized. But Alien? Nah.

Well, it did feature a half-naked Jessica Lange so it wasn't all bad.

If these guys had trouble against the Alien How will this new crew do? I can't say they're intimidating.

They're laughable. But we have to consider the shallow pool of talent Hollywood has to draw from nowadays.

I'm just now learning that shade was being thrown at King Kong (1976). The shame of it. Great movie.

I had the awesome movie poster in my room and even collected the bubble gum cards. I even think you could say the acting was easily superior to the original. But I grew up watching black and white monster movies on Saturday TV so I’ll always watch the original King Kong over any of the remakes. Kids these days probably prefer the Jack Black version. I can’t imagine a new Alien being any better with that cast. Any improvements would be in cgi but I prefer physical fx over cgi when it’s believable. A remake would never have the effect on audiences that the original had in 1979. And that cast reminds me of the Fantastic Four reboot that fell on its face.

The original is a classic. It is one of my top five modern genre movies.
I predict that this will not be nearly as good as the original, but won’t be the worst film in the franchise either.

Some members of the original crew have an I'm-so-tired-of-this-shit vibe. They just look dangerous.
The new crew has a boy band vibe. They're going to win the alien over with their song then destroy it when one of them goes solo.

Isabela Merced Talks ‘Madame Web,’ Her ‘Superman: Legacy’ Test and ‘Alien: Romulus’https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movie ... 1235822831Okay, so now it's not a reboot, but it's not exactly a prequel or a sequel either, it's a "sequel prequel": Quote: Merced is also starring alongside Cailee Spaeny in Fede Álvarez’s upcoming Alien: Romulus, which takes place between Ridley Scott’s Alien (1979) and James Cameron’s Aliens (1986).

The subtitle makes it sound like a mash-up with "Star Trek." Which I suppose some fans might consider pretty awesome.

It was the first version of King Kong I ever saw as a young lad and, although I haven't seen it in decades, it's an all-time classic as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather watch it again than the Peter Jackson King Kong, which I thought was disappointing.

I haven't enjoyed any of Peter Jackson's films since the Frighteners. I know his bank account doesn't care what I think, but his early films were much more fun.
(And I really like the Jeff Bridges/Jessica Lange King Kong. Actually my favorite version. But I do like the original as well.)
