Musical icon Carole King's triumphant May 26, 1973 homecoming concert on The Great Lawn of New York City's Central Park before an estimated audience of 100,000. To the delight of the audience, King moved easily between her signature classics and songs from her soon to be released 1973 album 'Fantasy'. King rarely performed in concert during this era despite the enormous commercial success she had enjoyed. However, on this special occasion, she presented her performance in two parts - first alone, on piano and then fronting a powerhouse 11 piece band.

We had an earlier thread for a Third Man exclusive vinyl and DVD. Now we're getting general releases including a CD, so I've removed the previous thread.

In the first post, the CD version is up for pre-order at Amazon UK. There's also going to be a general release DVD version (and possibly a Blu-ray).

Why the wait? Sony wanted to make this an anniversary release, coming out exactly 50 years to the day that the concert took place.

I wonder if the releases will be like the Carly Simon Live At Grand Central? In the respect that the CD and Blu-ray are separate entities, rather than packaged together? For this Carole King concert I will probably get the CD and if there's a Blu-ray, since I already got the DVD version of the concert.

This concert has a documentary with behind the scenes footage/commentary from Carole and Lou Adler currently airing on the Coda Collection channel. If you have prime you can get a 7 day free trial for this channel. I went ahead and got the free trial. In addition to the documentary for this concert there are many other concerts and documentaries on the channel.

They finally posted the DVD version for pre-order, and details have been added to the first post. Both formats are scheduled for release on Friday, May 26th.
