Description
Eldorado is an EP originally released only in Japan and Australia by Neil Young backed by The Restless, which consisted of Chad Cromwell and Rick Rosas.

It contains different mixes of three songs that subsequently appeared on Young's 1989 album Freedom, "Don't Cry," "On Broadway," and "Eldorado," and two tracks not available on any other recording, "Cocaine Eyes" and "Heavy Love."

The "Don't Cry" track on Eldorado is longer than the later version published on Freedom, for which some of the more free-form guitar work was edited out (at the insistence of co-producers Niko Bolas and Frank Sampedro).

Of course I just bought two days ago "Official Release Series Discs 13, 14, 20 & 21" for $36 bucks (should arrive tonight)...I hope the discs I have already - Hawk and Doves - Reactor are upgrades.

i guess the word 'upgrade' is kind of weird for this one.

'hawks and doves' and 're-act-or" were released a little later in the CD era (neil was in his CD hating stage for a while there). both were originally released on CD with HDCD encoding, and to the best of my knowledge those have been the only version ever available on CD.

this new box has the HDCD encoding removed (again, to the best of my knowledge).

so, if you like HDCD, the answer to your question would be no, not an upgrade, but if you don't like HDCD, then i guess the answer would be yes, they are an upgrade.

like i said, weird.

Agreed weird.
I used to have This Note's For You, but sold it off a long time ago. I may listen to it again to see if I have a different opinion of it (I do like the live album from that period/band).
If I do like it, will likely keep the box...if not, return and pick up the EP.

Yeah, still debating keeping the recently arrived Official Release 'box' I ordered a day or two before the standalone release was announced (which was the reason I bought the 'box').
Question - does Amazon accept returns on items that are open (as long as returned during return period?)
