Van Morrison's 43rd studio album, What's It Gonna Take? is out May 13th on Exile Productions / Virgin. The album features 14 new compositions that collectively reflect the artist's indefatigable drive to record and perform live in front of audiences. The album is preceded by Pretending - a gorgeous, restless soul track - and was produced by Van Morrison and was recorded between Real World Studios, Bath Spa Hotel, Richard Dunn's Studio, Culloden Hotel Holywood Studio and Musicbox Studios.

Ugh, those song titles. I have every album from the 60s through 2019 on cd. It's sad to see what happened to him.

van morrison, the master of quantity over quality.

i quit on him 15 years ago after about 4 or 5 albums that all sounded exactly the same in every way.

same chord progressions, same instrumentation, same key change, same key, same juvenile lyrics, for almost 25 years now.

and i notice that there has been an uptick of his stuff in the used bins lately, so i see many are feeling the same way.

He is (was I guess) capable of good music in the 2000s.... most of the albums should have been shorter though. His Keep Me Singing album from less than a decade is one I enjoy a lot.

It looks like the previous decade is where his catalog stops for me though.

Yeah, it's disappointing. I have everything that he's done through 2019, but the way it's going the last decade is where his recording career ends with me. It's too bad because I always looked forward to his releases and at his age, I know that day will end soon, but I have no interest in him rambling about Facebook and other things that I won't even get into here.
