Yes it's easy to mod Morrowind though, or even install openMW. OpenMW is an open source update of the engine that makes the performance better and lets you play on almost any computer. I have modded Morrowind to the point where it's almost unrecognizable lol.
So playing ESO is pretty easy to play solo in? Do you get bugged by other players to join them and things like that?

No. I don't get bombarded by invites. It's a bit more casual than, say, WoW. There is random grouping features to help solo players find groups for group dungeons. Raids, or "trials" as they are called, require organization typical of a guild. My big thing with ESO is actually the crafting and housing systems. I hunt for furnishing patterns, buy houses, and then build the furniture and decorate the houses.

I might give it a try. I've just finished a long run of Assassin's Creed (origins and odyssey) followed by Horizon:Zero Dawn and the recent Tomb Raider trilogy, so I'm keen for another big open world to explore, rather than replay something old.

There are a lot of Elder Scrolls lore videos on YouTube as well... like this one from Shoddycast (from back in 2013) about the Bosmer/Wood Elves of Valenwood. I like this one because it touches on what makes the Elder Scrolls Wood Elves different from most other Tolkien-derived "nature people" in fantasy fiction...

Instead of buying this on sale last weekend I picked up Assassin's Creed Valhalla (also on sale), so looks like I will be doing that instead for now. I will reinstall Morrowind and 200 mods if I get an Elder Scrolls itch I think.

I couldn't get Morrowind to even work on my PC after buying it on Steam 6 years ago.

Works fine for me, and I practically destroy the game with mods for everything. Have you tried Openmorrowind? It's an open source version of the game engine (you need to have the original game files to use it), and it is much more stable than the original for people. I haven't used it other than to try it out once, because the original has been working for me.
