Description ASIA are a multi-platinum selling, global superstar English rock band formed in London in 1981 and celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1982, remains their most successful, reaching number one in several countries. The lead single from the album, ‘Heat Of The Moment’, a huge soft-rock anthem with ongoing extensive worldwide airplay, is their top charting and best-known song, That single reached the top 40 in over a dozen markets, peaking in the U.S. at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. This 5CD deluxe clamshell box set features ‘The Reunion Albums’ from the 2006 reformed classic line-up of lead vocalist / bassist John Wetton of King Crimson, guitarist Steve Howe of Yes, keyboardist Geoff Downes of Yes, and drummer Carl Palmer from Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Featuring, ‘Fantasia’, a live show from their 2007 World Tour (containing ‘Heat Of The Moment’ live), and 3 subsequent studio albums: ‘Phoenix’ (2008), ‘Omega’ (2010) and ‘XXX’ (2012) across 5CDs. The package was designed by Roger Dean, who produced all the original albums covers. The box cover image is previously unused as a cover, and the ‘Fantasia’ cover is an updated design by Roger. These albums are all fantastic, especially XXX. Not a dud in the batch. I just wrote a book on the band that will be out in May.

Now I
do strongly endorse the use of packshots for boxes and mini-boxes... I wouldn't have much interest in the music in this case, but the presentation is enticing regardless.

I sure would like to see the first one remastered with extra tracks if there are any from that time.

There’s nothing in the vaults but some demos.
I’ve heard them and the ones for the debut album are mostly just Howe on his own and Wetton on his own.
The Alpha demos are pretty cool and most are the whole band.
I reviewed every Asia song, every album, every comp, every live album, every b-side...you name it, in my book.
I also did interviews and if you’re a fan, you’ll love it.
If you could care less, you probably won’t love it!

Hey Pete, just out of curiosity, does your book deal with the John Payne era as well? You already know that I'll be getting it on release day!

I thank you and anyone for purchasing it!
I’m lousy at self-promotion and need to step it up soon, but it’s tough when you feel like I do.
In any case, yes, every album is covered.
I did all 14 studio albums, every official live album, compilation and b-side.
I also put in sections on GTR, 3, PM and a solo album discography.
Each era with Wetton, Lake and Payne is featured.
I also included lots of interviews I did and from other sources.
You might not agree with every review, but this is packed with info and lots of stuff people might not have known about.
I’m halfway through my next book on The Police and Sting with lute and tantric sex included.

I endorse this statement.

By the way, if you don’t have these albums, I highly suggest this box. XXX is phenomenal and Omega is damn good. Phoenix was mostly great and Fantasia is a great live album from the reunion tour where you hear them play a Crimson, Buggles, Yes and ELP song. Lame that other live albums are not included as well as Gravitas (Howe had left by then, but it should be here).

Phoenix has one of my favorite Asia compositions Parallel Worlds/ Vortex. Also An Extraordinary Life (played live at their concerts at that time) is also a great song.

Neat, Pete! I ordered this back in October when Amazon first listed it. I'm looking forward to reading it.

I hope you’ll like it if you’re a fan.
I was told yesterday it’s out May 13 in the UK and June 25 in the US.
