Description
'1967-1974' is a 10CD box set that celebrates 50 years since the eponymous debut album of British blues/rock band Ten Years After. This collection gathers long-players from the Chrysalis and Deram eras and includes eight studio albums, one live album and a bonus disc of never before heard recordings from 1972 called 'The Cap Ferrat Sessions', which has been newly mixed by Chris Kimsey. All the albums have been remastered from the original quarter-inch production master tapes. The unreleased 'The Cap Ferrat Sessions' exists thanks to Alvin Lee's widow, who discovered a box of recordings in their house in Spain. Chris Kimsey recorded and engineered the original recordings during the 'Rock 'N' Roll Music To The World' album sessions. Kimsey: "These re-discovered recordings were not rough demos, not rehearsals, but completed masters that did not make the album due to the time limitations of vinyl at the time." This is a revised package of the previously available, but sold out, book version which comes in a clamshell case with a perfect bound booklet featuring extensive sleeve notes by Chris Welch and interviews with the remaining band members, Alvin Lee's family, as well as additional recording notes by Kimsey. The 10CDs are housed in individual album CD wallets.

I've updated the description in the first post based on the latest solicitation from Chrysalis. This is now referred to as a "revised package" in a clamshell box, less elaborate in design than the original limited edition, but containing the same 10 CDs and the same extensive sleeve notes. (The original was limited to 1,500 copies worldwide and sold out quickly.)

This set sounds fantastic, mastering by Ben Wiseman. It will be interesting to see the liner notes in a smaller package, hopefully they are fairly easy to read. If you missed out on the earlier versions do not hesitate if you are a fan.

Anyone have any idea whether or not this is going to be released?

Looks like this finally came out last Friday -- it's in stock at all three Amazon sites, orderable from the links in the first post.

I received from Amazon last Friday. Been so long since I ordered I forgot, lol.
The only critical aspect I have so far compared to other 'album collection' boxes is that the cardboard stock of the CD sleeves' is not nearly as sturdy...calling them paper would be harsh, but they are thin. Jumping to one of the albums I am not too familiar with "SSSHHH" (sic) the art work on back is hard to read, but that could be my eyes as much as anything else. The booklet is nice though (intend to read through it this afternoon).
As a bonus, my wife, who has no idea who TYA are/were, did get into the music - which is not always the case for my 60's - 70's centric side of tastes (80's on, she is all in).
