While it's not official, the show's cancellation seems to be a done deal. I hear they're dismantling the sets.
But the worst fucking thing about this is having to listen to its fan's whine about how quality shows are doomed on television. Which begs the question, "what quality show are they talking about?"
Tangent time:
It's like watching Peter David bitch about Fox canceling Drive, saying how if Fox had aired Heroes, it would have been canceled after the third episode. As if the show's piss-poor ratings had nothing to do with it. That's the big problem with serial dramas, their ratings usually don't get better unless the network is willing to spend the time and money to push the show (like Fox did with 24). If these shows don't find their audience out of the gate, they're doomed.
And Fox, while extremely imperfect, does take a lot of chances that other networks rarely do. They'll ditch you in a heartbeat if you don't perform, dick you around in shitty time-slots (Futurama), but if the ratings are there, they'll keep you around forever (Simpsons). I think I end up watching more Fox shows than any other network, so they must be doing something right. There's some serious quality at play there, especially if you count their cable sister, FX.
