Did anybody else get this? I read it today and, quite frankly, I'm more than a little stunned!

Here's the scoop:

Spoiler: show
It's pretty clear that the story takes place in the "post Civil War" Marvel Universe as there are numerous references to heroes being trained to handle situations and Spider-Man being a vigilante, however no mention is made of the Super-Hero Registration Act or Spider-Man's vigilantism being explicitly against the law. His "lawlessness" is discussed by several characters expressing different sides of the argument. But that's not the stunning part: In the story, Peter isn't married, Aunt May is fine, and Mary Jane (whom Peter doesn't recognize!!!!) is apparently a new government trained super-hero named "Jackpot". Also, NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW THAT PETER PARKER IS SPIDER-MAN!

W.T.F.?!?!?!?!?

I gotta say, without knowing how they're gonna pull it off, if this is the future direction of Spider-Man in particular and the Marvel Universe in general, I'M IN!!!!! :yay:

I enjoyed the story too, Frank, but you might want to read what Marvel editor Steve Wacker said about the issue at Newsarama when asked by a poster whether or not it's in continuity.

Spoiler: show
"The FCBD story doesn't take place in current continuity. We were trying to create a timeless kind of adventure that anyone coming out of the new movie could pick up and feel like they got a full Spidey adventure.

However, we did drop a couple hints (like the drop-dead gorgeous Jackpot) of new characters that may be picked up on by the new (and as yet unannounced) Amazing Spider-Man creative team. Dan and Phil were both anxious to play along and help. Luckily their schedules worked out and we couldn't be happier to snag them for Free Comic Book Day."
