Elvis says that Armed Forces will be the first in a new series of expanded reissues -- the biggest, the best and (probably) the last ones:

Recently I went to a meeting at a record company for the first time since the ’90s [at Universal, which last year renewed its global license deal for most of Costello’s recordings]. We began with the idea that if we were going to do another edition [of reissues], we couldn’t simply issue the records again. And I realized that, who better than the person who wrote the songs to tell you what else is there – things that I never released, live recordings. Let’s face it: This is now 40 years [after Costello’s early albums]. I can’t imagine there being another edition of releases after this one. And the first will be a six-record set based on “Armed Forces.”

Oh my goodness! This should be nice. It's going to be an expensive Christmas season. I'm glad that this is coming next year.

Although I've probably purchased more copies of the first few Elvis albums than any other artist, it goes without saying this is an instant YES from me.

I just read elsewhere that this set will have 3 live shows. I'll still get it but I'm disappointed that they're including this padding.

Yes, probably. What were there on that bonus single- 2 or 4 songs? Something like that. The only one that I recall is "My Funny Valentine" Was "Accidents Will Happen also on it?

Yes, it was.

The Hollywood High show should be included in this box. So, figure three discs of studio material, Live At Hollywood High and two other concerts from that era.

They already started pushing the vinyl box, which may be the way I go with this one. Looks beautiful, but I think I'll go with standard black vinyl..

$260 for the coloured vinyl, $200 for black vinyl.
Not enough there to warrant those prices IMO.

No, if they release it on CD for around $100 I would probably pick it up.

I've just read elsewhere that Elvis has said that this will be vinyl only release, that CDs just don't cut it anymore for him even though his new album is coming out on CD.

Oh well. More money in my pocket. <shrug>

If he offers a $70 CD version the $150+ vinyl version will be tougher to sell. Looking at the content I would not buy the CD version so this means nothing to me. Not enough there.
