Rest easily, Wilford. Enjoyed him in The Natural as well as many other offerings, even his commercials
as “the diabeetus man” for Liberty Mutual were a hoot, as were the parodies people made of them.

Got to admit, I was surprised he was only 85.

But then he wore make up to make himself look older in some roles (most try to look younger).

I read a short article with Ron Howard commenting that in Cocoon Brimley convinced Howard to let him do the fishing scene with his grandson without a script. This scene makes me teary ever time I watch it.



Then I ran across an appearance of his on Craig Ferguson's show. Totally worth watching to the end.

I remember when he was on Ferguson's show. They'd been making fun of the commercials for a while, but they were able to get him on the show. Ferguson was a great interviewer.
