Description
After Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green, John McVie, and Jeremy Spencer started Fleetwood Mac in 1967, they quickly found an audience eager for their British-style blues. Over the next seven years, the band would sign with Reprise Records, release seven studio albums, and release many classic tracks that are still beloved today. Fleetwood Mac’s early rise to fame takes centerstage on an upcoming Rhino release that spotlight the group’s deep-blues roots.

The release is an 8-CD boxed set that includes remastered versions of all seven studio albums the band recorded between 1969 and 1974, several bonus tracks, and an unreleased 1974 concert recorded just a few months before Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the band. FLEETWOOD MAC 1969-1974 will be available on September 4.

The set covers a five-year time frame that encompasses several different band lineups, from founding members Fleetwood, Green, McVie and Spencer; to later additions like Danny Kirwan, Christine McVie, Dave Walker, Bob Welch, and Bob Weston.

The collection includes seven studio albums: Then Play On (1969), Kiln House (1970), Future Games (1971), Bare Trees (1972), Penguin (1973), Mystery To Me (1973), and Heroes Are Hard To Find (1974). Those records fueled Fleetwood Mac’s early popularity in the U.K. and propelled them into the Top Ten with singles like “Man Of The World,” “Oh Well – Pt. 1,” “The Green Manalishi (With The Two Prong Crown),” and the #1 hit “Albatross.”

The CD set concludes with an unreleased recording of the band’s December 15, 1974 concert at The Record Plant in Sausalito, California. The performance captures the band – Fleetwood, Welch and the McVies – on tour supporting their latest album, Heroes Are Hard To Find. Originally, the show was simulcast on the legendary rock radio station KSAN-FM in San Francisco.

There's also a 1973-1974 vinyl box set coming with the same artwork, including Penguin, Mystery to Me, Heroes Are Hard To Find, and Live from the Record Plant. Complements the 1969-1972 vinyl box from 2013. (New thread, Linda?)

This is incredible news!

These are amazing eras of Mac’s career and finally justice is being done (too late for Bob Welch and Danny Kirwan).

I wonder if the plans for Live and Behind The Mask are still happening.

Hot damn !!! They finally dunnit !!! I thought something was funny with the individual CDs Kiln-to-Heroes going out of print yet again, and going for crazy high prices. Had them on my 'to do' list but just never got around to it (have the LPs).

This looks to have a lotta rare non-LP + 45 tracks, hope they've rounded 'em all up, Purple Dancer !!!

Woo + Hoo !!! Thanks Linda !!!

I have the lot on HD Tracks minus the bonus tracks. Those early 1970 albums without Peter Green are very good.
I am very angry Amazon no longer ships to Australia.

I have that earlier vinyl box set and it's fantastic. Any idea if this upcoming vinyl set will include all the bonus material, or will it just be the original albums? That will help me decide whether I get this on LP or CD.

I have that earlier vinyl box set, too, and I agree, it was really well done. Looks like this new vinyl set does not include bonus material, but it does include the Live Record Plant album.

The vinyl version lists only the original album tracks (but it does include the Record Plant show). If you want all the studio bonus tracks you'll need to get the CD box.

Thanks Linda. I figured that was the case based on some previous Rhino/WMG vinyl reissues vs. their expanded CD counterparts. I have all but one of these albums on vinyl already so it looks like the CD box set for me.

I think it should be across all formats, wouldn't it be nice if everyone got everything?

Yes, it would, but the trend the last couple of years has been to have more in the vinyl set (or, worse, the dreaded vinyl/CD combo where some material is exclusive to the CDs and some is exclusive to the vinyl) so I am feeling particularly vindictive and selfish.
