It really depends on what you're looking for in a Western, or if you're looking more for a Western variant. For example, I voted for Maverick because I enjoy it and James Gardner, but is it a true Western. I guess, but I would think something like Gunsmoke is more a typical Western. I liked the various Zorro series quite a bit, but I see them more as a super hero show. The Lone Ranger likewise. I never watched too many straight Western shows. Maybe the Rifleman. I think I watched that one more than most. Watched a lot of Bonanza, too. I liked Kung Fu in the 1970s, but, again, doesn't seem to be a primary Western. Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone felt like "mountain men" or pioneer tales. Little "Horse" on the Prairie felt like family drama to me, not really a Western. Mid-Western, maybe.
I'll stick with maverick because I've enjoyed that series enough to watch episodes more than once.
Best? Well, I bought the series, Kung Fu and have watched it many times. But it's not the traditional western.
Deadwood was great. Ian McShane. Grittier. Probably more real in that regard. I'd recommend it.
Marverick is always watchable, while some of those earlier ones, like The Lone Ranger, were pretty hard for me to rewatch as an adult. Ugh. One of those "they stretched that little bit into a whole hour" programs.
Aside from the comedies - which one watches for laughs - most of the others are watchable western dramas, but nothing so great I would recommend them as must see TV. They are more filler shows - something you could watch if there was nothing else around.
Still, I did buy Kung Fu, and I would recommend it, even today, so I voted for that. It's more family viewing, too, while Deadwood would not be in that category, though I'd recommend that one, too.
However, I would like to mention the original Lonesome Dove mini-series. I thought it was very well done. The series itself less so, but that original mini really was quite good.
The original LONESOME DOVE miniseries is one of my top five favorite westerns, period, so I voted for it. Just pretend the sequel with Jon Voight and the series with Scott Bairstow don't exist.

West Ham United fight song.
But Richard Boon as the bad guy is quite good, too. Big Jake (1971)
I really like this movie - but I sometimes get the impression not many others share this opinion. I'm not sure why. It's great. It's not HD, I suspect, but one can watch this wonderful movie on YouTube in its entirety and for free.
That's quite a variety of series in the poll. And they could indeed all be considered westerns of one sort or another. A surprisingly versatile genre.
