Description
UMC will celebrate The Band’s pioneering self-titled album with a suite of newly remixed and expanded 50th Anniversary Edition packages, including a Super Deluxe CD/Blu-ray/2LP/7-inch vinyl boxed set with a hardbound book; 2CD, digital, 180-gram 2LP black vinyl, and limited edition 180-gram 2LP “tiger’s eye” color vinyl packages. All the Anniversary Edition releases were overseen by Robertson and feature a new stereo mix by Bob Clearmountain from the original multi-track masters, similar to the acclaimed 50th anniversary collections of last year’s Music From Big Pink releases.

Acclaimed by whom? I remember being very disappointed with it. The previously released expanded version was much better.

Yeah last year's 50th of Big Pink was the poorest of the 2018 50th anniversaries other than the Stones.
As bad as Electric Ladyland was it did have more content to offer.

But since this is my favorite release by the Band I will be checking it out.

Like Rick, this is my favorite Band album (by quite a large margin). After last year's Big Pink 50th disappointment, I'll wait for the initial reviews, and if they're decent, I'll get the 2 CD edition.

I appreciate them releasing the 2 CDs separately. The "Music From Big Pink" remix wasn't a huge difference, but I enjoy listening for new things in the music. I'll probably pick the 2 CD set up at some point.

What a joke that reissue was. The Woodstock set here makes this more interesting to me, perhaps even worthy of acclaim.

Yep. Even as a huge fan of The Band, the Big Pink reissue was completely underwhelming.

I got the box. I'm really enjoying the live show. I just finished Robbie Robertson's memoir, and this was the soundtrack for me while I read it.
