As a matter of fact, yes.
Circa 1986-87, I had been giving some thought as to what I would do for
Avengers #300, and was playing around with the idea of having Loki get himself in a fix and have to be rescued by the Avengers ... whom he was responsible for bringing together in the first place.
Of course, I never got the chance to pursue that story, but the premise stuck around in a back room of my subconscious. So, when Tom Brevoort asked if I had an Avengers idea for an 80th Anniversary special, that story woke up and said, "Here I am!"
It was just a bit of the old Marvel serendipity that I was able to figure out a way for it to fit between
Avengers #277 and #278.
