Looks like Zap-A-Tone™ on the cover artwork.
I wonder if it is or just a modern filter/texture made to look like Zip-A-Tone.
In any event, it does help give a nice retro vibe to that art.

According to Newsarama, the Final Order Cut-Off Date is September 2, 2019, which seems late for a comic that goes ON SALE September 25th ... but what do I know?

Did this story contain any ideas that you had planned for the Avengers during your run?

As a matter of fact, yes.

Circa 1986-87, I had been giving some thought as to what I would do for Avengers #300, and was playing around with the idea of having Loki get himself in a fix and have to be rescued by the Avengers ... whom he was responsible for bringing together in the first place.

Of course, I never got the chance to pursue that story, but the premise stuck around in a back room of my subconscious. So, when Tom Brevoort asked if I had an Avengers idea for an 80th Anniversary special, that story woke up and said, "Here I am!"

It was just a bit of the old Marvel serendipity that I was able to figure out a way for it to fit between Avengers #277 and #278.

I said I wanted more, so...

I'll likely get it even though I'm not buying new comics anymore (since I can slip it into
existing issues in my Avengers collection).

Now if only we could see how Heavy Metal was originally meant to pan out without all that Cosmic Cube nonsense.
