Although I feel Colan should get my vote because of his uniqueness in the face of his peers and ability to create mood, I'm going with Windsor-Smith. His art and specifically his line work just evolved into such a amazing place, both clear and intricate. He's a great storyteller as well.

I love Gene Colan and he has done a ton of important comics but I just have to go with BWS.

Windsor-Smith. I love how his art has developed over the years, particularly in Weapon X and Storyteller.

Still not seeing the Colan thing. His work has always looked sloppy to me.

Barry for me. I like Gene the Dean, but Barry's stuff is sublime.

Seeing his pure pencil work close up shows me that the inking could contribute to that belief. His pencil work is amazing.

I'll go with the artist formerly known as Barry Smith.

He's the John Cougar of comics.

I've voted for both of these artists in the past polls, but BWS takes it over Gene Colan. You could see Barry's progression as an artist in the early issues of Conan. His work for Valiant on Archer & Armstrong was great and I loved his Weapon X for Marvel.

"The Dean" gets my vote. His original artwork--especially the all-pencil stuff--is beautiful, and he was (and is) a real innovator. The naturalism in his work, the cinematic quality, the motion that he captures in each page, the sheer ability to establish mood, the range...Windsor-Smith is great, but Colan's one of the all-time greats.

...oh, and I voted for The Dean.
